Back to Property Details

We liked the location and the apartment was lovely meeting all of our expectations. Absolutely thought the owner was extremely kind and caring.
Patrice at Papavero had answers to all my questions and appreciated all her thoughtful replies.

The apartment was beautifully and very thoughtfully decorated. I loved being able to sit on the small terrace every day with morning coffee or an evening glass of wine and a book. Good location. Lots of grocery shops and restaurants nearby Wonderful little terrace.
Renting from Papavero Villa Rentals was a good gamble for me. It was very nice to have the space to come back to during a long stay, and to be able to cook occasionally, have people over and make coffee in the morning. My daughter who is going to school here, decided to stay with me the entire month, which she wouldn?t have done had I been in a hotel room. And that was a big plus for me. We really didn?t have any problems to speak of during our rental. The maid came and did a nice cleaning job weekly. Everything was very clean on arrival.
The lighting was very dim, making it difficult to cook in the evening. With my daughter staying in Florence we had several dinner parties and it is tricky to cook by the light of one 40w bulb!
Because my daughter is a student, and used to the American internet system, we just left a laptop on for three weeks. Not knowing, or remembering there was any limit to the hours of usage (like internet here 15 years ago). So it was a surprise to get a 500 dollar bill at the end of the month. I imagine the owner hadn?t run into this before either, most travelers don?t have an active college student staying with them. I might suggest that the owner leave this information in written form. She did think she had told me of the limited hours, and in my jet-lagged arrival state, I?m sure she could have. But I never remembered any advice on this. So a written page of introductions (including this) would be beneficial to future guests (there or anywhere).
The Belvedere Café (great view on a terrace overlooking the city) in the Bardini Garden (just a straight walk south across the nearest bridge and up the hill (though the Bardini Museum). Buy Friends of the Uffizi membership (across from the Uffizi) for 60 Euros for unlimited access to all Florence state museums (and cut to the front of the line too!). Then you can pop in and out whenever you want, and can go from the Boboli garden to a museum, to lunch and back and then a drink at the Bardini belvedere without having to pay each time. It?s like VIP access! Would be worth buying even for a week. Can only buy Tues-Sat, or online prior to travel.
Nice hotel bar at the Relais Santa Croce nearby. Nice terrace bar at the Hotel Lungarno near the Ponte Vecchio.
There is a great Gelateria just around the corner. Also good bakeries. Paperback Exchange for English books south of the Duomo.
Pisa! Kind of a cliché, but it?s fun to see. Siena is wonderful. Good restaurant down the hill behind the Piazza in Siena.
