This restoration was truly a labor of love by its interior designer owner. Originally for their own use, they want to share their love of this place with others. Every detail was considered: Biedermeir furniture, rare empire paintings handmade linen curtains, large comfy white sofas create a bright and sophisticated atmosphere throughout the villa. Frette linens welcome you to sleep at the end of the day, crisp from drying in the Tuscan sun and ironed before being placed on your bed. A Gothic arch dating back to 1100 defines the different living areas on the ground floor. The fully equipped kitchen has few steps up to the outside terrace. Two lovely antique fireplaces and Venetian plaster in pastel hues show Italian craftsmanship at its best. it is the ideal place for a relaxed, comfortable yet elegant stay in Tuscany.
The gardens are just as beautiful as the interior, created by a famous Italian landscape architect it is bursting with Mediterranean shrubbery and flowers, lemon trees that set off such a sweet aroma each summer, all add to the scents that mingle with the surrounding woodlands. The 300 olive groves that surround the villa were left to take care of themselves when she first bought it, but now with tender loving care, they produce some of the best olive oil in Tuscany shared by the neighbors who help at harvest time and available to you at the villa. there are many outdoor areas to sit enjoy the panoramic views, relax in one of the many niches in the garden with a good book or a meditation moment.
You are so close to Florence, and only 1 km to the small village of San Donato where you can shop immerse yourself in authentic Italian life. Start your morning with a cappuccino and croissant before shopping for groceries or before heading out for a day tour. You are surrounded by lovely country villages, antique churches, wineries all waiting to be discovered. Besides Florence, it is easy to reach Siena, San Gmignano and Volterra. Golf and horse back riding are naerby and this area is great for cyclists. 90 minutes from the beaches of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi as well as Lucca and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Or shop til you drop at The Mall, where almost every designer has an outlet store located just 15 minutes from the villa, or... just relax, sip a Prosecco in the garden, enjoy a swim in the salt water pool, or just sit with a book and glass of Chianti in one of the many niches or terraces.
The villa dates back to the 11th century as a guard tower, a sure sign of a terrific view. The current family purchased it in 1988 and lovingly restored it, using a mix of antique pieces and blending with modern designs and comforts still in keeping the original character of the villa. . The adjoining Chianti Classico area, with its numerous wine yards, historic town centers and lively markets, invite you to the Italian way of living with all its pleasures. There are so many things to do for everyone, you couldn't possibly see it all in a week or two. Villeta Decoro is located just three kilometers from the beautiful ancient town of San Donato where you will find shops and restaurants, a bank and post office, making it very convenient during your stay.
