Capannone started its life over 500 years ago as a simple barn to house the farmer's livestock. WIth great care and love, the owners have transformed it into a warm and inviting cottage that is easy to call home. Perched on a knoll it allows you spectacular views of the Greve in Chianti valley that adds to the charm of this storybook cottage. An added plus is that it is within walking distance to the wonderful medieval village of Panzano in Chianti and a short bus ride into Florence.
Panzano is an exciting and typical Tuscan town. Lovely little restaurants and trattorias, as well as the most famous butcher in Italy, Dario Cecchini - before you even step into his 4th generation butcher shop L'Antica Maceelleria Cecchini you can hear him singing Arias from Italian operas or quoting Dante's Inferno by heart. A stop at his butcher shop is a must for those of you who enjoy cooking at home - have him prepare a porchetto for the oven, or a steak al a Fiorentino for your grill. If you'd rather dine out, visit one of his restaurants in the town but please make sure you stop in to his butcher shop, you won't see anything like it home or abroad. Then stop around the corner to end the night with a gelato. The town has various shops including a small grocery store a nice enoteca ( wine shope) which serves light fare for lunch.

Capannone is situated in the heart of Chianti, where the vineyards and olive groves produce some of the world's finest wine and olive oil. Explore the ancient hill towns all around you and savor the wonderful food this area has to offer.
