Serenity and peace amongst the tranquil garden settings and sun dappled courtyards, the house sits within 70 acres of meadows, woodlands, and farmland. Villa Leonora has breath-taking views stretching out over the picturesque Val d'Orcia (a UNESCO World Heritage site) to the mountains of Monte Amiata. A beautiful restoration and well-designed formal gardens and heated pool is the perfect mix for a perfect villa vacation.
It took four years for the owners to find their ideal location and another seven years to restore it. Every item was carefully chosen by the owners, who created a Tuscan home we all dream about. Pale washed chestnut ceiling beams, terracotta tiled floors and lovely yet comfortable antique furnishings. The spacious kitchen is a cook's dream with two large ovens, double sink, prep sink, microwave, 5 burner induction stove top and plenty of room. It is the ideal place to gather with family and friends to share in creating a meal from the local farms or hold a cooking class. Villa Leonora is both comfortable and elegant with functional antique furniture, handmade wrought iron beds and high quality bed and bath linen. In the study you will find shelves of books, a handsome writing desk with a sofa and easy chair. There is an extensive selection of DVDs and board games together with a 50" television in the TV room.
Taking an abandoned house on has its benefits and challenges. It enabled them to design the house in an eco-friendly way and blend modern conveniences such as the underfloor radiant heating and cooling systems keeping the house cool house in summer and providing heating in the winter. The bathrooms have high quality fittings, showers have good pressure, excellent lighting and mirrors and plenty of storage space. Sonos sound system, iPod docking stations, Wi-Fi and satellite TV.
In keeping with conservation, photovoltaic panels generate electricity and solar panels heat the house's water. In the summer, the excess heat also heats the salt water pool. A biomass furnace that uses renewable wood from their own forest powers the under-floor heating system, which can also be run using gas. The under-floor system can be used to cool the house in the summer as well.

NOTES
The house is reached on a 2.4 km / 1.5 mile gravel road, famously known as a 'strada bianca'. It is maintained in good condition - not recommended for sports or other low slung cars.
The owner sometimes stays in an annex in the olive grove, which is not near the house. It is not visible from the house and has its own access road.
