Villa Casamora sits nestled among the hills of Chianti, with views of what everyone dreams Chianti looks and feels like. Villa Casamora is part of a large organic farm of almost 1,000 acres and has been producing wine since the 13th century. From your villa you will look out unto a landscape that has changed little through time. The vast panorama of forests and streams, vineyards and olive groves with ancient hamlets scattered on the surrounding hillsides tends to weaken the heart and take your breath away.
Ideally located between Florence and Siena, you are only a 7 minute drive to Greve in Chianti known as the gateway to the Chianti Classico wine zone and the what is known as the Chianti Wine Road, Chiantiigiana. It's a quaint little town with a beautiful square, well really a rectangle, and covered sidewalk (portico) on three sides. Here you can shop for meats at the butcher shop, pick up some wine at the very large enoteca, and lots of specialty shops. shopping. Dining alfresco, or just a stop for coffee or an ice cream allows you to relax, and people watch. A statue of Giovanni da Verrazzano, who discovered the Hudson Bay leading into Manhattan, stands in honor of his naval accomplishments. Panzano in Chianti is just a 13-minute drive from Villa Casamora. Another charming village along the chianti wine road, and home to Dario Cecchini, known the world around as the 'singing butcher'. When you walk into his butcher shop you will find him singing opera or reciting from Dante's epic poem, The Divine Comedies. A stop at one ( or more ) of his four restaurants is a must. from the simple Cecchini sandwich truck in the back of the butcher shop, to the meat lover's Officina, a steak house like no other paying homage to the Bistecca Fiorentina
There's more to explore than just the Chianti wine road, Florence is just 25 miles, Siena in 30. Being in the center of Tuscany allows you easy day visits to jeep ride through the Carrara marble quarries, a day at the beaches, visit the panoramic valleys of val d'Orcia and Le Crete, spend a day in Cortona and Arezzo, water sports and fishing on Lake Trasimieno and even the cowboy territory of Grosseto. If you're up to it, start the morning 2 hour drive to Assisi and stop at one or two more towns on your way back to the villa.
Villa Casamora consists of the main villa and the cottage for a total of 9 bedrooms. All rooms are in earth tones furnished in Italian designer pieces with typical elements of a traditional Tuscan farmhouse. An Italian book writer and illustrator painted the nine neighborhoods of Medieval Florence throughout the cottage, adding a whimsical and museum feel to the rooms.
Each bedroom holds a bookcase of illustrated books as well as one-of-a-kind objects from a well-known Tuscan ceramic artist. The statement wall art on teh walls of each bedroom depicts a drawing of one of Florences districts during medieval times, dating to the mid 1400's.
