If staying during the summer, for a week or more, head out of the city to the many lakes for a day of relaxing, sunbathing and swimming. Or head out to UNESCO site of the Necropolis of the Banditaccia in Cerveteri This complex has more than 1000 tombs, dating back to the 9th century BC. Many of the graves are mound shaped, and some burrow several stories underground.
This Rome apartment is located in an ancient palace, off a very pretty piazza where you can sit, enjoy the view and fresh air. It dates back to the 1500's and some of their descendants live in the Palace today.
Enter the palace and up a set of red-carpeted marble stairs ( 16 steps ) to the first floor ( US 2nd floor). This floor in ancient times was called the Piano Nobile, the floor where the noble family lives, the merchant store was on the ground floor and the upper floors were for staff.
The apartment is on two levels with modern decor. Enter into the foyer, and you have a very large spacious living/dining room with ample seating and a large dining room table that can accommodate 12 comfortably. The antique ceiling is surrounded by frescoes, a pleasant contrast to the modern decor.
The billiard table in the game room sits under a breathtaking set of frescoes from the early 17th century. From its room, you enter the fully equipped kitchen.
Beyond the kitchen are three bedrooms, 1 full bathroom with tub and wall mounted shower, and three half bathrooms ( WC )
The other two bedrooms are located in the Mezzanine, One has an en suite bathroom, with tub in the bedroom and a WC with a double sink off the corner of the room. The fifth bedroom is a twin that can be combined on request, it's bathroom across the hall, with shower and single sink. If needed, there is an alcove in the hallway with a single bed, at no additional cost, but does not have a door.
