Capanna Poderosa is living its second life from an ancient castle's grain storage building to an open concept Italian villa rental nestled on 50 acres of vineyards and woods. A great home base, being just 25 minutes to Siena, 10 minutes to a quaint village with two restaurants, and 20 minutes from Castelnuovo Bernardegna where you will find supermarkets, banks and a variety of shops. Within 1 hour you can reach Pienza and the val d'orcia, Arezzo and Cortona and even Lake Trasimeno in Umbria. Florence is 90 minutes and the major villages along the chianti wine road can be reached within 20 to 40 minutes. In between is a plethora of small villages to explore.

The owner / interior decorator wanted a light-filled house. The unusually large hand forged windows and doors contribute to making each room light and airy. There are 2 large living rooms one on each floor, making it ideal for families where the kids can gather together. Please note that the lower level can be accessed internally and also externally

Turn off the main road to your 1 kms gravel driveway, a pretty drive with woods on both sides, and a fairly flat strada bianca ( white road ) that leads to your house.

Enter from the parking lot in the front of the house. Here you have the spacious living room . dining room with glass fireplace, and the fully equipped kitchen.

A staircase leads up to three bedrooms, all ensuite and all air conditioned.
From this main floor, you can also take the staircase down, that leads to three more bedrooms, a living room with glass wall with shrubbery view, that leads to the parking lot to your left, or the back of the house if you choose to go right. These three bedrooms are also airconditioned. Please note that the common rooms are not airconditioned, but being an ancient hay barn, the building was chosen at the highest level for cross ventilation and all windows have screens.

The large spacious terrace runs the entire width of the villa, here you have a large teak table that can seat 12 and a living area with sofas and chairs to seating 6 comfortably. This outdoor space is the most used part of the house, ideal for relaxing in the shade while overlooking the saltwater swimming pool, a side garden with lawn and fragrant flowers permeates the air on warm summer days. There are magnificent views are from every window and outdoor spaces.

Please note that the house manager lives in an apartment in the front of the villa. Very unobtrusive, and with a separate and private entrance. The villa manager is off on Sundays and Wednesdays but available should you have any emergency.
